Requirements

• TIMG were engaged to support a mid-tier law firm acting for an automotive brand in a large class action.
• Approximately 190 GB of data was provided by the client, with a total of approximately 800,000 documents.

The Process

• After deduplicating the data and applying date filters, TIMG was able reduce the set to approximately 500,000 documents.
• This reduced set was then made available to the legal team in a temporary Nuix Discover case for ECA. This allowed the legal team, with assistance from TIMG consultants, to conduct their own searches across the data set, with full visibility over search results. Using the ECA case, the legal team culled the set to approximately 37,000 documents. These were then hosted for review in Discover.
• A linear review was then conducted by the legal team, utilising customised review workflows built in Discover by TIMG consultants. These batched out document assignments to reviewers, preventing duplication of effort, and included validation criteria to ensure that document coding was complete and logical.
• Relevant documents were then produced to the other parties in accordance with an agreed document management protocol.

Outcome

While the matter is ongoing, discovery was completed in a timely and efficient manner, with TIMG consultants assisting the legal team to cull a large volume of data to a fraction of its original size, then review and produce documents using technology-driven workflows.
